Downhill Muni

Postby skieralex » Wed Nov 11, 2009 7:23 am

Hi

Has it been decided which track/tracks DH muni will be on? Will it be steep and technical? Which wheel size do you think will suit it most? If it's technical what will stop people from running the track? That might be faster :P.

I own a 24" with 170mm cranks so I'd hate the track to be all berms and smooth with no steep/tech bits. Preferable would be plenty of steep hard to ride sections with lots of roots and rocks/rock gardens :D

Also, what will XC and uphill be like? Distance, technicality, etc.

Thanks
Alex

I think Tony has decided what tracks are going to be used, there is some pictures of the trails on the unicon website: http://www.uniconxv.co.nz/programme/competition/venues/ from the photos it doesn't look very technical, I hope it is technical and steep.
I think Tony said the cross-country is somthing like 4km circuit with laps.

im not sure what exact track is being used, but i think its one that has a reasonable amount of steep technical bits.

I know for the marathon you are not allowed to run with your uni (but you can walk up the steep hill). This is to prevent this sort of thing happening. Wouldn't be surprised if the same applies in the Muni.

From memory, there is a rule which prevents running in the MUni events. I expect the IUF rulebook could share some light on the situation
