Legalities

The Companies office has a good list of stuff we need to do before incorporation.
Simply put, we need
- some Rules (a constitution): I've found a Sample Constitution we could adopt
- a signature onthe above by a Justice of the Peace
- 15 or more members who all agree that incorporation is a Good Thing
- a rubber stamp (yep! I laugyhed too): its called a Common Seal.

Sports Law: how to form a club
http://www.nzlawyers.co.nz/newsletter/nzlawtoday/issue6.shtml is a good summary
http://www.mnz.co.nz/download/sports_law_manual.pdf has more detail
http://www.med.govt.nz/ri/co_reg/incsociety1.html has absolutely nauseating detail, and doesn't print properly unless you do landscape paper

Cost is about $100 for the application. Do we really want to incorporate this society?
http://www.dia.govt.nz/businesses/cdg/index.html has a good comparison of the different types of entities at http://www.dia.govt.nz/businesses/cdg/b_2_type.html

Some good safety / risk management stuff at

Some general club stuff is at

Also check out the SCA website. I have no idea what they are but they seem to be doing something similar to us with the Society of Creative Anachronism: http://www.else.net.nz/inc/index.html
